Child abuser jailed for raping a woman
A convicted child rapist who raped a woman after being released from jail has been handed a life sentence BUT could be released after 7 years.
Daniel Hamer, 25, was described by a judge as “deeply disturbed” after telling probation officers his offences made him feel good.
Hamer, of no fixed address, was staying at a hostel in Liverpool after he was released from prison last year.
The woman, who had drinking all day, was attacked after she fell asleep.
Daniel Travers, prosecuting, said: “The next thing she remembered was waking up and he was on top of her.”
She asked what Hamer was doing and he replied “you know you fancy me – you know I like older women” before putting his hand over her mouth.
Afterwards the victim called her sister and in the morning made a complaint to police.
Hamer, who initially claimed they had consensual sex, only admitted rape after his victim gave evidence and was cross-examined during a trial.
He was previously locked up for 12 months after raping and sexually assaulting a girl who was aged under 13 years old in her bedroom in 2007
In 2010 he was handed three years behind bars after having sex with a 13-year-old girl in a park in 2008
Judge Hatton said Hamer would serve a minimum of five years and 10 months before he is considered for parole.
If or when he is released, he will be on licence and must sign on the Sex Offenders Register for the rest of his life.
